Tollymore Forest Park
The instantly recognisable backdrop for many scenes in ‘Game of Thrones’, and a spectacular place to walk and explore.
With its long beach, mountain backdrop and wonderful beach front promenade, Newcastle is a lovely seaside town. Plenty of places to eat, interesting shops, and craft market. There’s even a seaweed spa.
Spectacular scenery, amazing views, and walks to suit all abilities. You can make the top of Slieve Donard and back in a day, and stop in Newcastle for dinner.
Castlewellan Forest Park
Castlewellan Forest park boasts a vast hedge maze, arboretum, outdoor centre, mountain bike trails, and is a short walk from Castlewellan town centre.
Birch Cottage has some wonderful walks almost on the doorstep. Lackan Bog ‘green road’ takes you through the birch woodlands on the cut over bog, and you can stroll down to Annahunshigo lake, as well as walk in our own private woodlands.
Amazing scenery, incredible engineering. The Silent Valley reservoir supplies many people with drinking water, and has lovely walks, a good information centre, and small cafe, as well as plenty of picnic areas.
